Parking

Plently of on-site parking is available at the venue should you choose to drive.

Rideshare

Uber, Lyft, and Waymo are all readily available in this area. Rideshare is always a great option and drop-off will be right at the front entrance.

Flying In

Los Angeles International is the easiest choice for most travelers. It's roughly 30 minutes from the Ebell without traffic. In LA, budget more time during peak hours.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

The main hub, with nonstop service from most major US cities and international destinations. All major rental car companies operate from the LAX Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility (take the free RAC shuttle from any terminal). Rideshare pickup is from the LAX-it lot, follow signs from baggage claim.

We've been collecting favorite corners of this city since the week we arrived. Here are the places we keep coming back to and a few we think you'll love too.

Coffee & Morning

  • Larchmont Village

    Start at Noah's Bagels for a morning walk, then grab a bottle of something nice from Larchmont Wine, Spirits & Cheese for later. The whole street is lined with fun restaurants and coffee shops.

  • Montana Avenue, Santa Monica

    If you want to head closer to the beach for some genuinely excellent coffee and food. La La Land, Cafe Luxxe, and Bread Head are all worth the drive.

    One of the beaches with fire pits in LA. Specifically recommended for aviation enthusiasts as it sits under the departure path of 25R and 25L from LAX.

Parks & Walks

  • Will Rogers State Historic Park

    A quiet gem in Pacific Palisades with sweeping views of the city and the ocean. Easy trails, beautiful grounds for a picnic.

  • Hollywood Reservoir Walk

    A 3.2-mile loop around the reservoir with the Hollywood Sign as your constant companion.

  • Culver Steps

    At the heart of Culver City, a lovely town center to explore on foot.

  • Barnsdall Art Park

    Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House sits at the top of this little hill in Los Feliz. Great views, great architecture.

  • Silver Lake Meadows

    A favorite neighborhood park for a slow afternoon. The reservoir path nearby is excellent for a morning run.

Museums

  • The Petersen Automotive Museum

    Even if you don't think cars are your thing, this museum might change your mind.

  • The Getty Center

    Free admission (parking fee only), and one of the best museum experiences in the country. Book a timed entry in advance. The views alone are worth the trip.

  • The Broad

    Contemporary art in a striking building in downtown LA. The Kusama infinity room is the reason to book ahead.

  • The Getty Villa

    A replica Roman villa in Malibu filled with ancient Greek and Roman antiquities. More of a day trip but a beautiful one if you have a free afternoon and want to venture up the coast.

Neighborhoods Worth Knowing

  • West Hollywood / Larchmont

    WeHo is lively and central with great restaurants and nightlife. Larchmont Village, right next door, is our quieter, more local answer — tree-lined streets, excellent coffee, easy mornings.

  • Mirace Mile / Mid-Wilshire

    The Farmers Market, the Grove, LACMA, the Petersen all within a few blocks of each other. You could spend days here and not run out of things to do.

  • Culver City

    One of LA's best food and arts neighborhoods. More walkable than most of the city, great for an evening out.
